How do you split your time while hunting. The gang I go with have to travel 16+ hours to get to where we hunt and want to get huuntiing right away. We have done some scouting in the past but no where near enouph. If you had 1 week how much time would you spend scouting compared to actual hunting? We use archery equipment and do have it with us when we scout because yes scouting can turn to hunting in a hurry.

We travel 23 hour to go moose hunting. We have been going to the same spot about 9 years know so what we do is scout and hunt all at the same time. We have seen tonnes of moose just driving to our spots. You never know where they will pop up. Also when you use a rifle it is a lot easier.

Same here. 22 hrs is to far to drive for a scouting trip. Besides, where they would be when we scout and where they are when we hunt could be very diff. areas, as we don't go till the 3rd week. Like Dovver said, we have been going to our spot for enough years now that we have a preaty good idea where to find them in the first place. Its just a matter of putting in the time before you see one.

If you had 1 week how much time would you spend scouting compared to actual hunting? a week? oh my.. that's not very long is it. I dare say that there would be hunting and scouting combined,, always carrying a rifle, but checking out areas for sign, and make a plan always for the next day.. always planning ahead,, and if we see something in the meantime, well that's a bonus!! ;D but don't forget,, we have ample opportunities to go out to do scouting throughout the summer and early fall,, both by land and by air,, as my brother is a pilot,, so it's a lot different for us. I guess some would say we're really fortunate ;D every fall I take a month off work, and my hubby takes a few weeks, so our time at camp is a minimum of 2 weeks... we do some partridge hunting, some deer hunting, (and this year) some fishing, as we bought a new boat and motor this year I am really really looking forward to this year!! missmod88 you are fortunate indeed. in many many ways I guess I am I have a hubby that I can't get enough of,, I live in an awsome area, abundant with wildlife and great expanses of bush,, great lakes to fish in (and hunt too) and a brother who's a pilot (did I mention the last time we went for a ride in his plane we hit a bald eagle?) that was scary business!! yup, thanks, I am blessed
