I'm heading up to the Hearst area (zone 25) next week and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a butcher in the area that will process wild game? planing on spending 2 1/2 weeks up there and if we get lucky and fill our tag I don't want to head home too early. ;D

Hey Ceprice,
Did you ever find a butcher in Hearst and how was your hunt? Your 2 1/2 weeks should have been up long ago?

No I never found a butcher, just needed a knife to cut the tag up. ;D trip was OK, weather sucked, not sure if I will go back next year. There was a tonne of people there that made it tough to find a spot due to the limited amount of trails in the area. If I do go back I might wail till October and go up for 3 weeks... but that is a long way away.

Hey Craig,
What part of 25 did you go to and was there any sign? I am starting to plan for next year already and am trying to find out as much information about various areas as possible. With the limited number of tags I didn't think there would be so many people. Are you able to get back further off the roads on bikes or walking?
Thanks
Donnie

Donnie, north of Hearst there is only 2 roads into zone 25 I was at the end of Fujimi road and it there was quite a few people there. I talked to the conservation officers when they were out and they said it is packed every year. There is some trails in the zone but there was not lots of sign.

Hmmm! Well I might have to give that some more thought if there is not a lot of sign, tons of hunters and only access by two roads. I might look at trying to access from Kapiskasing area. I think I will start buying maps to look at as we are trying to figure out where to go for next year. Would you go back to area 25?

Ceprice,
I am heading up to zone 25 next week with a bull tag and plan to drive the two access roads you talked about. I know it is very late in the season but it is the only time I could get out of work. I wanted to ask you how wide are these two roads? I have a full size 4x4 but no ski doo or 4 wheeler......I called and talked one of the CO's but he said access could depend on the amount of snow.....any advice you can give?
