Well we got out snow. THats good for us as deer yard up here. Monday am I went in to a spot where there are normaly lots of deer moving through and I was nada. Nobody saw a deer in the am. Pm Dad missed a big doe and 2 guys from another property wounded a buck that they tracked up on to us. Dad talked to them for a bit but they never found it. Funny thing is, They just happened to be on the same station as us and I heard them talking. THe guy that shot says he jumped up and did a nose dive in the snow then got up and ran. He shouldn't be far, I think i got him right in the heart ...I lmao. This is before he even started tracking it. Well obviously he didn't.
Tues. Trev. hit 1 doe of 6 that came out to him. As soon as he told me where he was and where the deer was I figured it was to far. Sure enough. He missed at 140 yds, sighted in for 75
I couldn't go out in the pm. They saw nothing.
Today, I couldn't go first thing. Went over around 9. When I got there they were tracking a doe that the other Trev. had shot at. Dale had missed a fork horn. Man what a morning already. Dad saw nothing. Dale tracked that doe for about 3 km and over 2 hrs. Lots of blood but never did catch up with it. He thinks it had a broken leg. Come to find out he busted the front bead off his sight last night and he was using it and shooting 70 yds at this deer. While tracking Trev. shot at a yote and his gun froze up. He turned around and there was 3 more about 30 yds away.
I have yet to see a deer. Tonights the night for the ml to bark again.
We have about 8 inches. But it is awefull stuff. We got about 4" then it was freezing rain, then more snow. So there is no such thing as being quiet.
Tonight we found out that the neighbour found that big 8 the guys at the bean fields shot. MAn it traveled a long way.
So I get there a bit late and the guy with the broken bead is in my spot. Grrrrrrr. This is a spot that you can see real well from all sides. Lots of deer trafic and the potential for anywhere from a 40-150 yd shot. Just perfect for the ML. And there he sits with a gun he can only shoot 30-40 yds with. I told him he should be hitting the heavier cover. THere are lots of tracks in there and you can't shoot that far. Man I was grumpy. He ended up seeing a big doe and fawn and a yote. NEver shot a thing. Just a bit to far at 50 yds he says. I AM GONNA BLOW A FRIGIN GASKET!
Another guy missed a doe aswell. Came out right to the spot Dad was sitting this am. I heard 2 walking around but they never did show themselves. Beauty of a night though. No wind, bright, calm cool. ahhhhh perfect.
