Hey I just signed up and this place looks like it will be a great place to talk about some big game hunting. I love to moose hunt I go every year up to Ear Falls it is about 1 hour south of Red Lake. I can't wait to here story's and to share tips on how to bag that big swamp donkey. Where does everyone else hunt and how did they make out last fall. We got a bull and a calf the first day we hunted and the rest of the week was bird hunting. Here are some birds we got one day Dovver

what a great success story dovver!! great pics!! we never got any moose this year,, (the year before is one that I will remember for the rest of my life!! but you all know about that one) we had a group of hunters into our area the first 4 days of the hunt, and molest our hunt they did, I had a guy follow me into an area opening morning,, I was walking into an area that was a point of land where I figured they might be hanging out (lol the moose not the hunters) and had this young man follow me 30 yard behind me, carrying a can with a rope through it, (moose call?) and it was clanging against his rifle, and brush. I stopped, and we had words over that,, he and his brother and dad continued to molest us for several days after that... it was dangerous being in the bush with those idiots. so we pulled out. so no moose for us. we ended up getting loads of birds,, it really was a fabulous year for them wasn't it??? ;D and bagged 8 deer we still had more than enough fun, just them hunters left a bad taste in our mouths,, (no we didn't do what you think.. although we did think of it LOL) gonna do something a little different this year Sue

Ya that sucks. Where we go we don't see to many hunters because it is such a big area but if we do everyone is pretty good they just say are you in here today and thats it you don't see them the rest of the day and we do the same. It' nice to have that but we have to drive 22 hours to get it. No crowds and lots of moose. We have only been skunked one year out of ten and thats only because guys missed 2 monster bulls. Every year we get two or three one year we had 2 bulls and a cow all in 10 mins of each other and the hunt was done at 0730 opening day. Thats when the work began. Soon after was a week long bird hunt and party. The best thing was I shot the two bulls. ;D

The best thing was I shot the two bulls. ;D that was a great feeling I bet huh? that's what I did 2 years ago,, out of our party of (then) 5, we had 2 bull tags, and at 8(ish) AM I had 2 bulls down I managed to sneak in on 2 bulls, a cow and a calf,, they didn't even know I was there and then the work began,, as you said

The year I shot two bull I could of shot three because they were all together but we only had two bull tags. The other I had to watch run away. It was exciting that's for sure.

Ya it would of been great.
We see so many moose where we go. If we had a cow tag last year I could of shot a cow and a calf. I was walking with a buddy that has never shot a moose before so I let him shot the calf. He was pretty happy let me tell you.

oh yea, I bet he was!! there's nothing like it!! my hubby has been stepping back and letting me do the shooting for several years,, come to think of it, he's always done that,, and tomorrow we celebrate 12 years marriage!! I know such a romantic huh? I have taken a few big game critters, but he's been hunting for 25 years and is my most favourite guide Sue ;D

The day we dropped the Bull, the Cow just stood there watching us track him to where he fell. We didn't have a Cow tag that year. Then as the Bull was being gutted another smaller Bull passed by at 50 yards. We only had the one Bull tag which was on his leg.
I swear, if we had those other tags, we would of needed to rent a Cubevan to go home.
Best Regards, DB
